Mission

At Indiana Inclusive Riding Center, our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ and POC youth to explore the transformative power of equestrian activities.

It is no secret that the western and equestrian worlds have a history of discrimination towards people of color and the queer community. We are dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging, empowerment, and personal growth through horseback riding and equine husbandry, while showing the world that LGBTQ and POC riders have a place in this industry.

Our goal is to create an environment that celebrates diversity, promotes equality, and builds strong connections between humans and horses. Through our programs and services, we strive to cultivate confidence, resilience, and leadership skills, while embracing the values of compassion, respect, and understanding.

Together, we aim to create a vibrant community where everyone feels welcome, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Equality

We are committed to promoting equality and fairness in all aspects of our organization. We believe that everyone should have equal opportunities to participate in equestrian activities and benefit from the transformative power of the human-horse connection.

Diversity

We celebrate the diversity of our community and recognize the strength that comes from different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. We embrace diversity as a fundamental element of our organization and seek to create a space where everyone feels represented and included.

Empowerment

We are dedicated to empowering LGBTQ and POC youth through equestrian activities. We believe in providing opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and self-confidence building, enabling our participants to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Our Goals

  • Purchasing our own property is the key to keeping complete autonomy over our organization.
    • Finding a safe lease with a like-minded landlord could be an option while we find our own place.
  • Grow our program to support as many members of our community as we can.
  • Ride in Pride Parades across the state!
  • Work with our local leaders to enact change locally and advocate for policy and systemic changes for the LGBTQ and POC communities.

Upcoming Programs

We are committed to providing educational opportunities to our participants, volunteers, and the wider community. We strive to increase knowledge and awareness about LGBTQ+ and POC issues, as well as equine care and horsemanship, promoting learning and growth for all involved.

Education

Indiana Inclusive Equine Center will provide riding lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels. These lessons are designed to enhance participants' riding abilities, focusing on proper techniques, balance, and communication with the horse. Participants learn both English and Western riding styles, gaining confidence and mastery in their equestrian skills.

Lessons

Indiana Inclusive Equine Center will organize workshops and seminars on various topics related to horsemanship, equine care, and LGBTQ+ and POC issues. These educational events provide opportunities for participants and the community to learn from experts in the field, engage in discussions, and expand their knowledge and awareness.

Clinics and Seminars

We will host numerous community engagement events through out the year, on the farm and around the surrounding counties. Live music, raffles, exhibitions, and more will draw a crowd and show them what a difference horses can make in kids lives.

We will also help show our support back to the communities we work in by volunteering.

Events

The organization will offer horsemanship education programs that teach participants about horse care, handling, grooming, and riding techniques. These programs aim to develop participants' knowledge and skills in working with horses, promoting a deeper understanding of equine behavior and care.

Horsemanship Education

We want an IEA team! IEA’s mission is to promote lifelong involvement in equestrian athletics. IEA wishes to introduce students in grades 4-8 (Future) and 9-12 (Upper School) to equestrian sports and to develop understanding and appreciation of equestrian sports through organized competitions and educational opportunities
